FLOW WITH IT.
Yes! You are in the right place. I love teaching Yoga for Beginners and introducing the discipline to new practitioners. I teach classes accessible to all levels, give mindful cues to help you move through your practice & I’m right there doing it with you! I realize that every person experiences the poses in a different way. There is always a modification or a way to level-up and go deeper in a pose. Your first class is FREE. No strings attached.
THIS IS THE RIGHT TIME.
Yes! I love to keep it real, whether it is your first time practicing Yoga or if you have practiced for years, there is a place for you in my class. My classes are welcoming, inclusive and accessible. My classes are Yoga for every BODY. In my classes, there is always an available modification – a way to pull back or level up to go deeper in a pose. I give clear cues to help you safely discover more in your practice. No matter where you are on your Yoga journey, you are welcome here.
THIS IS YOGA FOR EVERYONE.
Yes! You are in the right place. Yoga allows you to adjust your practice based on you and your body. You do not have to be flexible to start yoga. One of the benefits of a regular Yoga practice is increased flexibility, strengthening and conditioning.
THIS IS YOGA FOR EVERY BODY.
Yes! I offer Live Online Yoga classes via Zoom. My online classes allow you to maintain your practice from home, stay connected and be a part of a nurturing, self-care community.
YOU CAN DO YOGA ANYWHERE.
You can log in via any device with access to the internet, you just want to make sure you position the screen so that you can easily see it during your practice.
Note that Zoom does vary slightly on different devices and you may want to have a charger nearby, as streaming can deplete the battery quickly. I recommend testing your device with Zoom prior to class & making sure you have the latest version.
RECHARGE.
An open mind and a space where you can move freely. If you have a Yoga mat, that’s great. If you are practicing on flooring without a mat, just make sure it is a non-slip surface to be safe. Remember to bring your water to stay hydrated.
YOU CAN DO THIS.
Classes range from 60 – 75 minutes.
STAY FOR THE SAVASANA.
Classes usually start off slow, work our way up to a faster pace or peak pose and then slow things back down. You can expect Breathing, Stretching, Sun Salutations, Balancing, Strengthening, Vinyasa Flow, Peak poses, Core work, Stamina work, Cool down Stretching and Surrender sequences.
It is ok if you are not sure what a Sun Salutation or Vinyasa Flow is – I’ll be with you every step of the way!
Classes are sequenced to help build strength, stamina, increased focus, work on alignment, balance and flexibility – leaving you feeling strong, renewed & grateful at the end of your practice.
YOU ARE A WARRIOR.
Go ahead, take a deep breath in and breathe out. You just did Yoga! During Yoga, we use specific breathing techniques to help you practice intentional breathing, learn how to control your breath and connect it to movement in your body.
Mindful breathing has positive effects; calming the mind, relaxing the amygdala, reducing stress and anxiety, increasing your ability to focus, and improving lung capacity. You will find your breath as you move through your practice and yes – it’s ok to breathe out loud in class.
INHALE. EXHALE. REPEAT.
Yes! I love making playlists with music to keep you moving with mixes of everything from nature sounds, spa, singer songwriter, 70’s & 80’s, 90’s, 2000’s, current hits and music from your favorite tv shows & movies.
YOU MIGHT JUST HEAR YOUR FAVORITE SONG.
You can practice Yoga in any comfortable clothing where you are able to move freely. Make sure your clothing is somewhat fitted and skip items that are very loose, hooded, or have lots of accessories. Yoga is typically practiced in bare feet.
COME AS YOU ARE.
Have fun – express yourself. Choose a mat that makes you feel happy; color, thickness, price and material wise.
Everyone eventually has their favorite style & brand. I have tried a lot of mats and there are some really beautiful, great feeling mats out there.
Mat thickness is a personal choice. I use a 6mm mat that is 6P and latex free and costs around $30. Whatever you choose, make sure to air it out for a few days after you open it. All mats have their own cleaning instructions & just make sure to follow them to get longevity out of your mat.
MAKE IT TO YOUR MAT.
You do not need props in order to practice, my classes can be taken without props. At some point in your practice, you may choose to try using one or two Yoga blocks or a strap to make some poses more accessible or to deepen a pose.
IT IS OKAY TO NEED A LITTLE HELP.
Savasana (sha-vah-suh-nuh) is the final resting pose of your Yoga class. You rest your body on your mat and simply breathe. During these final moments of class you are quiet and still, allowing your body and mind to surrender and relax. Your Savasana may feel different in every practice, and that is totally normal. Savasana allows you to feel connected, peaceful and relaxed. Enjoy this mini dose of meditation on your mat.
LET IT GO.
Yes! Savasana is truly the most important pose of your practice. This rest and intentional pause at the end of your class allows your body to receive the benefits of your practice. Savasana can help to calm the mind, relieve anxiety, reduce fatigue and bring balance to your body and mind.
THIS IS YOUR TIME.
Namaste (nah-mah-stay) literally translated is “I bow to you”. Western yoga practitioners use this gesture during the final seal of the practice, sealing in the lessons learned and energy created and shared. There are many wonderful translations and interpretations of this greeting. As a teacher, I use Namaste to end our practice with positive affirmations and gratitude and invite my students to do the same.
It is your practice and you should do what feels good to you.
NAMASTE MY FRIENDS.
My classes include a fusion of different styles of Yoga in each class, best described as Strength, Balance and Flow with thoughtfully sequenced breath and movement -that allow you to feel connected and strong.
